Burke's Colonial Gentry, online book

Post by smcarberry » Sun Dec 07, 2008 6:08 pm

Here is another book in the large "Internet Archives" collection, all digitized versions of hard-copy publications sitting for years on the shelves of libraries in North America. This one provides Bernard Burke's work on British/Irish-born families residing in the mid to late 1800s in outlying parts of the British Empire, such as Australia and New Zealand. As usual with this collection, the book is fully searchable.

Here are the references which I found to individuals listed with Co. Clare residences:
England
Butler
MacNamara
Dorton
Nihill
MacDonnell
Lloyd
Hastings
Minnitt
Devereux
Westby

In addition, there are fairly lengthy descriptions of the Martin (p. 813) and Cudmore (p.674) families, who had property or a family connection to Clare.
