Hoping somebody may be able to help me find information on James Casey and Elizabeth O'Dwyer ? from milltown Malbay area. ? emigrated to Australia with their children 1850 -1860's. Known children are Mary (married John Casey in Kapunda South Australia in 1870) and John James (later moved to Wellington NZ). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Ann,

I checked the Miltown Malbay Parish (Kilfarboy) register for James Casey and Elizabeth O’Dwyer and did not find any records. There are only a few Casey families in the Miltown Malbay Parish.

The neighboring Parish of Kilmurry-Ibrickane (Mullagh) has a large number of Casey families. There is one entry for 18 Dec 1841 for Elizabeth Casey daughter of James Casey and Elizabeth O’Dwyer.
Sponsor: Mary Hogan … Vagrant

There is not a townland listed for this baptism entry only vagrant. I have seen this entry “vagrant” listed before without a townland listed. The other baptism entries on the page do have townlands listed.

I wish you luck in your search.
