Looking for any connections to these families.
My great great grandmother is Ellen McNamara of Castlecrinne County Clare Ireland. She married Patrick McCormick in the Parish of Sixmilebridge on Feb. 2, 1834. Matthew McNamara. After they married they lived at the McCormick farm at Mooghaum North. Patrick died in Washington DC on August 6, 1873.
Ellen asked Patrick to pay for passage for her brother Denis and their children to come from Castlecrine to the US. (This is according to a letter left to Thomas McCormick by his father Patrick). The following is the information I received from the Clare Heritage Centre.
Denis McCormick married Ellen Meany in the Parish of Sixmilebridge on February 27, 1854. Witnessed by Martin Byrnes and Michael Ryan. The baptismal records for Denis and Ellen’s children is as follows:
Anne baptized 29th June, 1855 sponsors Patrick Meany and Bridget Gorman
Matthew baptized November 22, 1856 sponsors John & Nancy Barry
Patrick baptized March 3, 1858 sponsors Thomas Halloran and Catherine Meany
John baptized June 7, 1860 sponsors Patrick Gleeson and Bridget Kearney
Mary baptized February 8, 1863 John & Maria Halloran.
Denis and family lived with Ellen and Patrick in Washington DC.for a while before moving on.
Patrick and Ellen’s daughter Ellen married Patrick Maloney in Washington DC. Interesting enough Patrick Maloney (Moloney)lived and worked for awhile for a street contractor named Peter McNamara and his wife Johanna in the US 1870 census.
