Browne family book by a Clare genealogist

Post by smcarberry » Tue Sep 23, 2008 1:27 pm

Not to stir up controversy, but there is a book by Antoinette O'Brien (the director of the Clare Heritage Center at Corofin) apparently available only at the public library in Buffalo NY. Here are the details:

The Browne family of Co. Clare
by Antoinette O'Brien
Publisher: Ireland : Clare Heritage Center, [1997?]
OCLC: 41642373

"OCLC" refers to a number assigned only to this book, similar to an ISBN, but issued by the Library of Congress (Washington, D.C.).

Sharon, it may well be a 'Family History Report' (on a Browne family) from the Clare Heritage and Genealogical Centre in Corofin that someone donated to their local library. According to the centre "The final report is presented in a Bound Book format".

Mike,

I think that is quite likely the case, that a Browne descendant ordered the report and then made a donation of it to the
library. A good idea, as it gets the information out in public where there is a way to access it.

Thanks,
Sharon C.
