Obituaries: Glosters in Parteen, Co.Clare

Post by mdetwilr » Mon Aug 25, 2008 3:47 pm

I'm looking for obituaries from Parteen, County Clare, for George Gloster, after 1901 (may have died 1926?), and Amelia Jane Gloster after 1927. Can anyone show me where to look?

Thanks,
Michelle in Washington, USA

Michelle,

I see that http://www.limerickcity.ie/Library/Loca ... newspaper/ contains several Gloster obituaries but not the dates you are looking for, unfortunately.

Neither does the Index to Biographical Notices in the Clare Champion newspaper 1935-1985 at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... ampion.htm list any Glosters.

Curious, as they were obviously a prominent family in the area.

I note that the Gloster family were Church of Ireland. Have you checked the C of I archives - either in the area where they lived or in the central C of I archives in Dublin - to see whether they have death or burial records ?

Just bumped into another list of obituaries in Limerick newspapers, with a George Gloster who died in 1901:
Gloster George Parteen House 05/12/1901 funeral report
Gloster George Parteen House 30/11/1901

listed on p. 35 of 108 pages at:

These Gloster mentions appeared in newspaper extractions on a Limerick-oriented website which I ran across today, so I
am posting them in case they may be of interest. The site has a search engine.
