OS maps

Post by M. McNamara » Thu Aug 14, 2008 1:31 pm

Help needed!!

Within the last week, somebody posted a link to a website which led me to another site which in turn had links to the 1st. edition of the 6" colour, 6" b&w and 25" maps, all for free!. I cannot now find the site. I tried searching and looked up my search history, but to no avail. Can someone repost the link please?

I can't find the link you refer to but it is just possible that it existed a week ago and was taken down by owners of the digital files under threat of copyright litigation. At least two entities (Ordnance Survey Ireland and Trinity College Dublin) have an interest in the commercialisation of the digital 25" and 6" maps and OSI will certainly be vigilant to protect their business.

That said, one never knows. I looked for the link(s) you mentioned but couldn't find anything.

We have the 6" 1837-42 OS maps for free at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... dex_OS.htm of course but I too would be interested in having access to the later 25" maps.
