Here's another snippet from the Clare Journal and Ennis Advertiser of Thursday, April 25th, 1850:

Two persons named Thomas and William Carroll, have been committed to Ennis Gaol by the magistrates at Six-mile-bridge, for sheep stealing and assaulting the police. On the person of one of them (William Carroll) was found a notice, threatening the lives of Messrs. Cullen and Donaldson, proprietors of the paper mill in that village, if they did not leave the country before the 5th of May. The prisoners bear a very bad character.
