Killaloe, Queensland

I just had a message from a cousin who is visiting Killaloe, Queensland - for location see
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Killa ... a=prev&z=7

I presume the Australian Killaloe is named after Killaloe, co. Clare, but a preliminary search has failed to come up with any explanation of the link. Perhaps one of the Australian contributors to this forum knows the full story.

I did find a reference to a Killaloe Cottage on the other side of the continent, in Robe, South Australia:

The South Australian Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1858 - 1889)

and repeated on
< Thursday 27 August 1863 >
BIRTHS. BIRMINGHAM.—At Robe Town, Guichen Bay, the wife of Mr. W. Birmingham, Killaloe Cottage, Commercial- road, of a son.

Newspaper references to Killaloe, Queensland date back to a gold find in 1896: see
