Penelope Madigan looks for her inheritance (1824)

Post by Paddy Casey » Mon Jun 09, 2008 9:24 pm

Here's a poignant little cutting from the Morning Chronicle (London, England), Monday, March 29, 1824.

Penelope Madigan of County Clare in Ireland has received information that her rich uncle Cornelius Kennedy died some time ago abroad leaving a considerable property and made a will in her favour. Now she needs help to claim her rightful inheritance.

Maybe some present-day Madigans or Kennedys can fit this into their ancestral jigsaw puzzle. Why, Penelope may not have spent all of the money. Some of it may still be there for the claiming. You never know.
