Clare in 1822 - crop failure, starvation imminent

Post by Paddy Casey » Sun Jun 08, 2008 7:57 pm

The attached short reports from the Morning Chronicle (London, England), Wednesday, April 17, 1822 and other newspapers of the same period gives an idea of the state of Clare in 1822 - crop failure, starvation and unrest threatening. Provides background to one's family history research. And maybe gives pause for thought as one tucks in to this evening's steak.
