Davoren discovers ancient grave (1780)

Post by Paddy Casey » Fri May 09, 2008 11:35 am

Now here's some real Clare Past stuff from St. James's Chronicle or the British Evening Post (London, England), Saturday, March 18, 1780.

Mr Davoren's men were digging at the foundation of an old tower near the Abbey of St Darragh and came across a burial chamber containing members of the House of Burren (Cahil, the Son of Aorth; Tiggherdan, the son of Bracklahm; etc. etc . - see below).

The date of the grave was unknown.
