Edward Byrne dies at Sixmilebridge aged 100 (1823)

Post by Paddy Casey » Tue Apr 29, 2008 8:36 pm

Mr Edward Byrne, formerly a clothier, died at Sixmilebridge, County of Clare, aged 100 (Liverpool Mercury etc (Liverpool, England), Friday, May 9, 1823). His wife survives in her 105th year. They had been married nearly 80 years.

Another report (Caledonian Mercury (Edinburgh, Scotland), Monday, May 19, 1823) describes him as "...an eminent clothier...." and says that he retained his faculties to the last. His wife "...still possesses her faculties with the exception of her sight".

Hmmm. There must have been something in the water at Sixmilebridge
