According to the Freeman's Journal and Daily Commercial Advertiser (Dublin, Ireland), Thursday, April 19, 1888, Michael, Thomas and James Griffey, who were arrested at Loukeen, Dysart, charged with a moonlight attack on the house of a farmer, James Leary, with intent to murder him were discharged for lack of evidence.
This isn't surprising. Giving evidence was a dangerous business in those times.
