Re: New York State news items for Clare-born [upstate]

I have found a long-mislaid notebook in which I transcribed newspaper items which are
mostly obituaries but with one marriage notice and some other notable events. These
were from images not completely legible, so I did my best to be accurate and complete.
My typing this time is accurate. All these newspapers were in areas in which Clare immigrants settled in the early 1800s, with the Oswego area being an Erie Canal location, Buffalo being a major point from which people went westward, and Ogdensburg being a major place to cross into the U.S. from Quebec Province. Note how widely scattered the next generation was, even out to California.

There are still Cooneys residing in the parish and one Paddy Cooney owns a fine establishment called the Quilty Tavern overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the coast road between Kilkee and the Cliffs of Moher. I am sure there is a connection.
Take care Michael.

This new pdf contains death notices of Clare-born who died in New York State, primarily NYC, as published in NYC newspapers 1800s through early 1900s. The decedents' surnames are shown below, with a preference for listing maiden names. The published items contain relatives' names as well. Spellings are left undisturbed.

There is one exception to a decedent's residing in New York, and that is the first item in the pdf, which is an early, snide article on a Farrell of Newmarket-on-Fergus, which was placed in publications of more "civilized" places like NYC and London.
