Thanks for that. Daniel Liddy was my GGF on my mother's side. They had 1 unmarried daughter who bequeathed her collection of books to my mother. I remember them as being a very Victorian selection of self-improvement and household tips type of literature.

Thanks for the clarification on the date of the duel. I was wondering how a man who was to die that year (or thereabouts)
was dueling, as I knew that the Liberator died of a natural causes, not a duel. Newspapers have such a knack of getting
some things wrong, which involved here the substitution of a 4 for a 1 in the year.

I had the chance to run some search terms through a different database containing some newspaper articles and found
these, the first of which may or may not be very accurate.

Sharon Carberry

Atlanta Constitution 12 June 1910 p. 6
Dublin, June 11 - (Special) - A rate [sic, rare] and well-authenticated case of extreme old age, in the person of one Paddy BLAKE, was recently to be seen in the Corofin Union hospital. Paddy was a laborer but did not work regularly, spending most of his time roving about from one house to another.

He was born at Ballygireen, parish of Kilnasoolagh, County Clare, some 119 years ago on St. Patrick's day. His grandfather was Peter Blake, who fought at the siege of Limerick in 1691, and is said to have attained the great age of 120 years.

Atlanta Constitution 14 Mar 1882 p. 5
The Condition of Ireland
The Daily News special correspondant at Killarney says he believes matters are rapidly mending in Ireland. Numbers of tenants he says are coming forward to claim the advantages of the land act. A farmer named CONNELL and his wife were shot in their legs at Feacle, County Clare, Saturday, and it is expected that they will die. This case is exactly similar to the shooting of farmer MORONEY a fortnight ago, when an armed party attacked his house, shot him through the legs, stabbed one of this sons, and shot another son.
