ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The book, For God or King, The History of Mountshannon, Co. Clare, 1742-1992 [1], has a very good two-page summary of the history of the Allens in and around Mountshannon. This book also has 16 other Allen references in the index. The editor, Gerard Madden, was introduced to me by my Cleary cousins during my visit to Ireland in 2000. This book also mentions four brothers that left for Australia about 1834. You can get this book in softcover from the East Clare Heritage Centre [2] in Tuamgraney. This is a GREAT book and has tons of relevant information for anyone searching ancestors in this area.
