Clare images: the Sean Sexton collection

Post by Paddy Casey » Sun Oct 03, 2010 9:11 am

If you fire up Google, click on Images at the top left, and punch in the search argument Sean Sexton collection County Clare you will find a rich set of images, some of them from the Sean Sexton collection (this search argument throws up masses of other interesting Clare images which you can boggle at to your hearts' content* but this posting concerns the historical ones). To get more information on each image click on the image and then when it appears in a new screen click on "Website for this image" at the top right. In the case of the old Clare images that will take you to the Getty collection at http://www.gettyimages.com

Refining the search argument to Sean Sexton collection "County Clare" will filter out some of the (here) irrelevant images from places and counties in the US called Clare and ladies called Clare.

Off you go ! Cancel all other arrangements for today.

Paddy

* For example, there are thumbnails of graveyards which take you to the http://www.interment.net website which contains much data on Clare graveyards such as http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/c ... allard.htm or the Callura cemetery in Lahinch at http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/c ... /index.htm And so on and so forth.

Riveting. I couldn't stop myself from cruising though at all 800 or so photos on Corbis's website, with occasional detours to Google historic figures and events. By the end of the evening I arrived at a place of better understanding. Let's hope Sean Sexton keeps going with this collection.
