New Zealand newspaper search; Michael O'Halloran obituary

Post by smcarberry » Sat Apr 12, 2008 12:16 pm

I found a New Zealand library site with a search engine for locating articles in New Zealand newspapers back into the mid-1800s. Articles describing major events in other countries were also reported, such as the 1871 Chicago fire and
an 1877 theater fire in Brooklyn NY in which 250 people perished. 873 results came from using the search term County Clare,
and 156 resulted with using "Tulla" although this search engine brings up all words containing those letters without the
ability to limit the search to just Tullla.

The attachment is the obituary of Michael O'Halloran born 1820 in Tulla and died 1900 in the Wanganui district after arriving in the country in 1876.
