Census enumerators of Clare, 1831, named

Post by smcarberry » Sat Sep 04, 2010 12:49 pm

Census enumerators had to be literate and able to undertake their duties without impacting their livelihoods; thus these men were likely to be middle-class gentry. Those for Clare were named in the Parliamentary report providing all kinds of statistics taken from the census that was not preserved as a record of all the individuals living in Ireland at the time. However, pay records for the enumerators were preserved and thus these names exist.

Below are three screenshot files with the names, and a reply posting will show the title page of the report. The second part of the names listing shows the data headings.
