Headstones from Inis Cealtra/Holy Island, Co.Clare

Post by joj » Tue Apr 24, 2012 1:21 am

I have photographed all of the legible headstones from there recently and submitted them to the library to be uploaded when time allows. In the meantime, if anyone would like to query what I have as regards surnames, etc. please contact me and I'll see how I can help.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer. Please send any CLEARYs or CONWAYs you have. My Grt-Grandfather Michael Cleary is buried there and that photo is online here at the library site. He died in 1921. I was told his wife Mary CONWAY refused to be buried next to her hubby because of the rats. It would be interesting to know if she is or isn't there.

Thanks,
Jim McNamara
