Pew burning in Kilkeedy church (1798)

Post by Paddy Casey » Tue Apr 08, 2008 6:08 pm

One wonders what was behind this report from the Mirror of the Times (London, England), Saturday, September 15, 1798. Pure vandalism or was there something more sinister behind it ?

A number of persons unknown broke into the church of Kilkeedy near Tubber, tore down the pews, put them in a heap and set them on fire. The building escaped the intended demolition.
