Here's their latest wheeze

22-Mar-2012: The IFHF ORS has been converted to a credit system. All user balanced have been upgraded to the new credit system automatically. Part of this upgrade has been the reduction in the cost of a record from €5 to as low as €2.50 depending on the amount of credit purchased. However, users will be charged 1 credit for a page of index search results. Every users will be given 10 free searches.

Eh, thanks but no thanks

I hoped that I would be allowed to try out the new pricing scheme but when I tried to log in I was still told:
The account for [e-mail address] has been disabled. Please contact the IFHF for further information.

Cratloe and Parteen/Meelick parishes at rootsireland.ie

Post by pwaldron » Thu Aug 02, 2012 4:59 pm

I've just realised that the rootsireland.ie website does its best to conceal the fact that it contains extracts from the registers of Cratloe and Parteen/Meelick parishes in the south-east of County Clare.

I know that Robert Frost married Bridget McNamara in Cratloe in 1826.

If I search for confirmation of this marriage by entering this information at
http://ifhf.rootsireland.ie/quis.php?ty ... iage&new=1
I cannot tick a box to confine my search to Clare (or Carlow or Kerry).
If I tick the box for Limerick (on the basis that Cratloe is in the Diocese of Limerick), no match is found.

However, if I start my search at
http://limerick.rootsireland.ie/quis.ph ... iage&new=1
I find that there is a match in CRATLOE (RC).

This is perhaps understandable given that Cratloe is entirely in county Clare; however, the same applies to Parteen and Meelick parish, which straddles the county boundary. There is no possible justification for this.
