St. John shipwreck of Clare and Galway emigrants 1849

Post by smcarberry » Sat Apr 05, 2008 5:22 pm

St. John is the name of a ship out of Galway which went down at the southern edge of Boston (MA) Harbor, at a place which the Indians named "the long rocky place" (Cohasset). This article lists only those lost but the Mass. State Archives in
Boston likely has the full list. The article was published 19 Oct 1849 in the Milwaukee Sentinel and Gazette (Wisconsin).

Paddy Casey went to the Clare Library site and found that a fuller version of the St. John shipwreck was contributed
by researchers in Massachusetts:

Thanks, Paddy. There is quite enough research to do without duplicating what has been done already.
