The Freeman's Journal and Daily Commercial Advertiser (Dublin, Ireland), Friday, February 27, 1880 includes a report from the Dublin Mansion House Relief Fund detailing applications from the Clare parishes of Coolmeen, Ennis, Kinvarra, Six-mile-bridge, Scariff and Moyne, Liscannor, Corofin, Kilkeedy/Tubber, Kilmaley/Ennis, Killmichel, Carrigaholt, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Inagh and Cahir Feakle/Scariff for the week ending 27-Feb-1880. The table (attached) lists the numbers of people in distress at that time. The data is broken down by parish.

Interesting background on the times our ancestors lived in. And sobering stuff to read as one applies one's knife to this evening's juicy steak.
