Flanagan vault, Ennistymon Old Cemetery

Post by ftipple » Fri May 28, 2010 6:48 pm

Behind the ruined church in Ennistymon Old Cemetery there is a vault erected by a James Flanagan,"for him and posterity" [sic]; also commemorated is James's unnamed wife, who died 12th December 1832, aged 31; a later plaque on top of the vault commemorates Patrick O'Dwyer of Ballinagrave, who died in 1894.
Does anyone know anything about this James Flanagan? A man of that name applied to be added to the list of Clare Freeholders in 1829, on the basis of property in Ennistymon valued at £10.
Any help/suggestions/information welcome.

TIA,
