Trouble in Tubber (parish of Kilkeedy), 1831

From Freeman's Journal and Daily Commercial Advertiser (Dublin, Ireland), Friday, July 1, 1831:

On Wednesday 22nd instant the peasantry and farmers in the parish of Kilkeedy assembled in a vast concourse and proceeded to Tubber where they were met by Augustine Butler of Ballyline; James D'Arcy of Rockvale; Christopher Lopdell of Derryowen, and James Roughan Esqrs. who very forcibly pointed out to them the severe consequences attendant on those outrages and crime which of late so disgraced the parish of Kilkeedy, a part of the county before remarkable for good order, and advised them to make up the walls, surrender all arms in their possession, and return to peace, industry and obedience to the laws of their country; on which the peasantry immediately, in one body, repaired to make up the walls in several directions. They have since surrendered several arms to James D'Arcy Esq.
