"Ireland Under Coercion: the Diary of an American" by William Henry Hurlbert can be downloaded from the Project Gutenberg website at http://www.gutenberg.org (thanks to Jonathan Ingram, Robert Ledger and the PG Online Distributed Proofreading Team).

It is accompanied by a map of Hurlbert's travels in Clare and other places in 1888 and contains numerous references to Clare places, people and events and the social turmoil of those times.

Hey Paddy,
I notice your last post refered to the "Land War" in the 1880s as well. If have gathered some information on the subject if its of interest to you then all you have to do is mail me. If not then disregard.

Hi Pádraig,

Thanks. I'd definitely be interested in seeing it, either mailed to me or, if appropriate, posted here.
