There's a reference to "Healy, Francis, Esq., Mogullane, Newmarket-on-Fergus", in the list of subscribers to Samuel Lewis's history of Clare at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/history/lewis_subscribers.htm, and the townland of Mogullaan (http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/townl...

Re: Faha/Corbehagh
One of the easiest ways to check the recording of particular surnames in either of the Tithes, Griffith's or 1901 census records is to look at the "Combined list of surnames which occur in the 1901 Census of Population of County Clare, the Griffith's Valuation 1855 of County Clare, and the Tithe App...

There are townlands called Ballyortla (North & South) in Clare. Sounds a bit similar.

Re: Margaret Brew, 19th century Kilrush authoress

Not much help, but the family seems to be there in the 1901 census for Drumdigus http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/1901census/kilmurry_ded_drumdigus74_8.htm Patrick Ferguson (Head of Family), aged 70, Agricultural Labourer, Widower. Re: Industrial Ennis
Directories of Clare have lists of trades and 'industries' in Ennis for various periods. Slater's Directory of 1870 lists quite a lot at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/directories/slaters1870/ennis_trades_1870.htm. And there's also Bassett's 1875: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas...

Re: Ennistymon House & The MacNamara Family
Hello Susan. Ennistymon is in the civil parish of Kilmanaheen so your first port of call should be the Kilmanaheen parish page on the Clare Library website at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/kilmanaheen.htm where you will find links to a lot of historical material on Ennistymon and t...

The Kerry Road (still called so by older people) would best be known now as the Kilrush Road.

Re: 100 years of steele's terrace
They're celebrating the 100th anniversary of Steele's Terrace this year, so it just may not have existed at all for the 1901 and 1911 censuses. The OSI map shows that Steele's Terrace stretches along beside the Gort Road http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,533905,678049,7,10 so the area may well hav...
