Re: Genetic genealogy for surname info

I've had similar experiences as Sharon. I've had tests performed by FamilyTreeDNA as well as the Ancestry product. I'm on a direct male line to my paternal immigrant from Germany but to date have not found any useful links of information. On the Ireland side, my lineage goes through my mother, but a...

Re: Clondegad Graveyard-Patrick Heher

Murf - I just checked that cemetery and most if not all of the Browne's are from late in the 19th century or much later. As far as I know, all my relatives left by around 1850 or so. As for marriages, I have no information about any marriages prior to 1850, but it could have happened. The parents wh...

Re: Clondegad Graveyard-Patrick Heher

Thanks...I remember seeing that now...even checking the second time, my relatives still aren't there! :D

The Clondegad Cemetery is one Parish/Township to the east of where my relatives came from, Cappanageeragh. I wasn't able to find any cemetery listings there, though.

Re: Clondegad Graveyard-Patrick Heher

Is there an online listing of all who are buried in this cemetery?

Re: Resources Outside Clare

Lucille -

Thanks for the overview. I may try the rootsireland site for a short time, but it appears there are other places that I did not know about but will check.

Resources Outside Clare

The amount of information available through the Clare County website is quite large and can certainly be useful. I was considering subscribing to rootsireland.ie but wondered if they would have anything more substantial that the country resources don't already offer. From what rootsireland indicates...

Re: Clare Heritage and Genealogy Centre

Larry -

Thanks for the idea. I will recheck the site that I made the request on and consider additional inquiries. I just wish I could receive the courtesy of an email response to indicate the status.

Clare Heritage and Genealogy Centre

I wonder if anyone can give me some insight on their service? In early March 2014, I submitted a request to have some records research done on my family and was told that there was a backlog and it would likely be 16-18 weeks before anything could be done. In the middle of the summer, I enquired and...

Re: Brown or Browne from Cappanageeragh

A cousin of mine has run across a letter from one of our distant relatives that provides a few more clues about our family and where they might have lived in Ireland. I've mentioned Cappanageeragh and possibly a place called Anfield Park. The letter, as it was told to me, mentions Cattegara, "now kn...

Re: IFHF Clare RC records now online

Admittedly, I'm not up on all the variations in parishes, etc. I registered on the IFHF site and searched for a relative's name who was born in 1823 (Clondagad Parish) and there was one record found for a baptism within 5 years of that. But without much more information to go on to corroborate it, I...

Re: IFHF Clare RC records now online

Very few of these parishes are shown in the Griffith's evaluation:

How is this information from Roots Ireland going to be useful?

Re: Databases for DNA Comparison

Kevin -

Thanks...I'll give it a whirl. I did check 23andme and they seemed to "not play nice" with other general DNA testing services, so I'll continue to look around.

Re: Databases for DNA Comparison

Michael -

Thanks...the tests were run using FamilyTreeDNA so I've already gone down that path. Two other databases that I've checked are Ysearch and Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation. Next I plan on see what 23andme has to offer in terms of results comparisons.
