Re: Looking for info re Baker and Clune families, Clare 1840
Vince You may never get exact birthdates as people often did not know them, you may get baptisms. but the answer to most of your questions is on Clare Library website. Coron could be Carron in the Burren but I wonder if it is Coore which is also in Kilmurry Clune is also Cloon and Shanoway or Shanov...

Re: Brown or Browne from Cappanageeragh
You are right I had the wrong Annfield. Edmond Kenny was Annfield in Kilshanny. He was as far as I know married to a daughter of thomas MacNerny who also held Annfield

Re: Fr. Thomas Shannon, Clare to Philadelphia
The Shannons lived at Craggaknock and kildimo, I do not know which family these were. Edmond Shannon lived in Berry Lodge, his widow married Pierce Shannon merchant of New Orleans and Mayor of Limerick. In 1846 courtcase re Craggaknock, James Shannon is described as having sacked as an excise office...

Butler seals
A lady contacted me from Australia. She is a descendant of Matthew Kenny of Clare attorney and Juliana Butler through their son William. he states this on both of his marriage certs. I have no record of a wedding for Matthew Kenny to a Butler he later married MacNamara. William emigrated to Australi...

Re: O'Grady Shorepark
Thanks Denis that clarifies things. Ger Maddens book seems to be quite accurate except he states Edmond is of Kildimo Limerick when in fact Kildimo or Kildeemo as it was also called is beside Annagh near Miltown. I must give Rita Meade who owns Berry Lodge a shout - she knows a lot about the history...

Shannon
I looked again at this research and at the O'Grady book. It seems to be tying Pierce Shannon to the Kildimo Shannons The O'Grady book has Margaret daughter of Daniel O'Grady marrying Edmond Shannon from Kildimo - I am pretty sure it was Pierce, from the death notices and I know he was from Miltown b...

William MacNamara Downes temperance poems and songs Clare
Hi I ask this without much hope of an answer as I have never as yet got one to a topic I raised on this forum, only to answers I gave to others. My research interests seem to be obscure. Does anyone know anything about the early 1800s poet and writer of temperance songs William MacNamara Downes who ...

Re: Cess Payers
Except for the Brews they were all related in some way. Cornelius Kenny was Hugh Kennys first cousin first cousin once removed. Anthony O'Dwyer was married to Cornelius Kennys first cousin. Edmond Shannon was a cousin a few ways. I am not sure exactly how but William of Cragleigh Hughs father was ma...

Re: Converts to Catholicism in Clare/Limerick (Spaight Name)
I just noted on Paddy Waldrons website a thomas Spaight collector in 1766 a godfather for one of catholic thady O'Hallorans children. He lived a Ballycunneen in Sixmilebridge so I think you have the same family as the Protestants. They were possibly related (O'Halloran and Spaight) and thomas must h...

Re: O'HALLORAN of Ballycunneen, Sixmilebridge and Dublin
I have a bit more info on this Sally O'Halloran daughter of Thady married Thomas Sampson in 1801. She had at least two daughters a sarah Sampson and Eleanor Sampson who married Cornelius Kenny my gt gt gt uncle (son of David of Treanmanagh). I am in touch (just recently) with their Baltimore descend...

Re: Fr. Thomas Shannon, Clare to Philadelphia
I think Paddys hypothesis is more likely to be true than mine though it seems strange that the half siblings are not on the Kenny trees (of which there are more than one from more than one branch) BTW Thomas MacNerny of Annfield is another story I think already on this forum. His daughter married Ed...

Re: Fr. Thomas Shannon, Clare to Philadelphia
I probably should have explained I am kenny descent a few times through David of Treammanagh and Edmond of Dysert hence my interest. Michael Kenny was my gt grandfathers second cousin. There were several other Shannon Kenny marriages that I know of Edmond son of Patrick married a Shannon and Paddy W...

Re: Fr. Thomas Shannon, Clare to Philadelphia
thomas Shannon was married to Harriet Coughlan. She was the sister of Joseph Coughlan. It is said he was from Kilkenny but I doubt this as the whole family seem to have married in Clare. Joseph Coughlan was married to Mary O'Kelly who after his death married Mathias Kenny, Mathias Kenny was Michael ...

Re: Annefield kenny
Hi I saw your remarks about Annefield. There was at one point in the 1800s an Edmond Kenny living at Annefield who was married to a Miss MacNerny. I am not sure who he was or if he was related to me. There was also a Matthias Kenny of Ballycorrick died late 1700s also Clondegad. I would love to know...
