Re: Irish phone book online search- help

Thank you Mcreed for posting the link. It is the one I have been trying to open. I'm getting the same response with your link, and appears I have an error (HTTP 403) with my browser, which I cannot resolve. It would be really helpful if someone on the forum would kindly let know if there are any Heh...

Irish phone book online search- help

Hello all - I have tried unsuccessfully to get to an online version of the phone book for Ireland. I have googled appropriate terms, but each time the page to what appears to be the official site will not open. I have tried a link posted at this forum a while ago, and it will not open. Is anyone abl...

meaning of "Oge" and "reagh" and "ny" in Irish names

I have been unable to find the meanings of oge, reagh, and ny used in several Gaelic names associated with my family. I am guessing the first two are related to the son's family position, whilst the last one means maiden name of the woman?? I would appreciate any assistance with this one.
thanks. :D

Maria Reddan

Is there anyone on the Forum who has a Maria Reddan in their family tree? She appears a number of times as sponsor at baptisms of children for the following families: Stephen and Anne Hehir; Francis and Bridget Kearse (Kearce/Kierce/Kierse). The RC parish is Rath & Kilnaboy 1819-1836. Any clues woul...

Re: Deerpark ~ is it a house or a neighborhood in Ennisymon?

Hello - I have come across "Deerpark" a couple of times in the History of Clare book. Just do a "find all" search using that term.

Re: Kierce/Kerse/Kierse families near Corrofin

Thank you for posting the Inchiquin Papers, which I have seen before. My difficulty is getting pre 1819, the likely date of Stephen and Anne's marriage, so that I can follow back both family lines to these earlier ancestors. It's very difficult being in Oz, as cannot access parish records, short of ...

Kierce/Kerse/Kierse families near Corrofin

Hi all - I believe my ggggg grandmother Anne Hehir was nee Kierce. I have baptisms of 3 of her and Stephen's 5 children in Killaloe parish, noted as living at (what was a townland) "The Commons". There is evidence of a Francis Kierce/Kerse at the Commons South in the 1820s and 1842 Tax Assessments. ...

Re: Mary Higgins

If she was, in fact transported, it could have been to either NSW or VDL (Tasmania), given the period. You can try a search at the following sites:

Hehir family and geography near Corofin

Hi from warm and steamy Oz - I am trying to ascertain the likely location of my Hehir family. A newspaper report from 1831 relating to one of the family implies he lived between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 miles from Corrofin. I have tried to work out (from Tithe and freeholders lists) which townlands with the ...

Re: Eliza Eagar née Foley (c1831-1917) matron, Corofin Workh

This Patrick Foley may be the brother of Laurence Foley, who died in 1857, leaving his brothers John and Patrick Foley his properties (see prior post mentioning article in the Limerick Leader, and related to the topic Margaret Brew).
