Forms B1 & B2 on 1911 Census
Hi, saw this question on another forum but hadn't noticed it myself. The House and Building Returns (B1) and the Out Offices and Farm Steadings Returns (B2) seem to be missing from the 1911 Census. They were definitely there before because I have saved copies of the ones for my family. So just wonde...

Re: Ryan, Keough and Taylor
Hi Jim, according to the Tithe Applotment books of 1823-37 there is a townland by the name of Drumline in Templenoe Parish in County Tipperary. This townland seems to have disappeared since then. There is a Matthew Ryan living there during this time: http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/s...

Re: Deciphering Handwriting

There are Melicans on the 1901 Census living on Inismacnaughton Island which is just across the water from Ballycally where Daniel lived. I think these Melicans are descended from the John Melican on the register. The re...

Deciphering Handwriting
Hi Folks, need some help deciphering the surname of the sponsors on this entry from Newmarket Parish register: http://mcmahonfrost.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/daniel-birth.jpg First thought was Mullin/Mullen or some variation - now I'm thinking maybe Melican though the second letter looks closer to ...

Two male witnesses at Wedding
Hi Folks, just wondering how unusual (if at all) was it for a couple to have two male witnesses at their wedding . I always assumed that there had to be a male and a female as witnesses but I've come across a couple of instances now where both were male. Is this unusual? And if so under what circums...
