Sinead, the records are available for the whole of the Irish republic. If you e-mail the valuation office and ask them to research the townland in which your ancestors had land then for a fee of 25 euro they will send you copies of the closed books for that townland.

Have you tried checking the "Closed Books" at the Land valuation Office in Dublin. That shows the transfers of Land from the 1840's to the 1970's I think. Check out their website at www.valoffice.ie

Civil Registration of Births, Deaths & Marriages didn't come into being until 1864 in Ireland so you will not be able to get a death certificate for someone who died prior to 1864. You can also try contacting the Sandfield Centre is Ennis who hold the Civil Registrations of births, deaths & marriages back to 1864. The staff there are very helpful.
