Re: Pilots, Rivers Shannon & Fergus, 1876, '90, name & age

Hi Al - just as there is an 'Air Pilot' - so too there is a 'Sea Pilot' - these are men who are qualified to guide ships up the river - in this case - particulary the Shannon and Limerick region - I can only speak for Kilrush where there is a Pilot Boat based. I am sure Foynes & Limerick also have s...

Re: Kilnasoolagh Church, Newmarket-on-Fergus, An Appreciation

Hello Sharon - that is wonderful info - and I will tell a friend in U.S. to look it up. Paddy - maybe the Studderts were buried in another cemetery. I think it was in 1994 - I met a descendent of the Studderts at a weekend at An Grianan - Irish Countrywomen's Assoc. up in Co. Louth. I was with my IC...

Re: Kilnasoolagh Church, Newmarket-on-Fergus, An Appreciation

Hello Paddy - that is a great link - I would say that Kilrush Church of Ireland once looked like this. I never saw it inside while being used for worship. Re Important People in Parish - e.g. Hickman of Fenloe House - ''' Hugh & Henry Hickman of Ballykett. ''' Ballykett is a townland about mile and ...

Many thanks Paddy W & Polycarp.

Bapt. Records for Church of Ireland, Kilrush & Kilkee.

Would any member know if the above records are available on micro film - like those of R.C. Church ? I have a request from America re info - I know the Registers are held at St. Columba's Church in Ennis - and it would be poss. to see them if prior arrangement made with Rev. Canon Hanna. Miriam.

Re: Information please, the County Clare Surname ( Kanary )

Hello Michael- or it sounds like Mee haul in Irish !!! It was great to see the wonderful photos of Bob's visit to Ireland. I think I told you that 'The Little Ark' in the church at Kilbaha was dragged down to the seashore - in order that Fr. Meehan could say Mass in Penal times. You must add another...

Re: Information please, the County Clare Surname ( Kanary )

Happy Birthday Michael. They are great photos of Bob's visit to Ireland last November. The house ruins could have been the home of the Keniry/Kinery family over 150 yrs. ago.!!! There were several pronounciations of the name - and the Irish language has a different sound to the written word. - e.g. ...

Re: Pilots, Rivers Shannon & Fergus, 1876, '90, name & age

Sharon - it is ironic that you should mention 'descendants remotely located' - on Face book there is a site called Kilrush Local History Group - and some time ago there was a photo of Scattery Island shown. There was a request as to where it could be purchased - and it came all the way from Alaska f...
