Re: Sullivan ancestor Slievedooley
Hi - I was just looking at a few back issues of 'Clare Champion' (local paper) - and I saw that the 'O Sullivan family from Slievedooley' were being entertained by the Pres. of Ireland - Michael D. Higgins. - I think the edition was May 4th - It was to honour a relation called Murphy who was/is a sc...

Re: Routes taken by Tithe Collectors, Valuers and Census Tak
Very true, Paddy. Henry St. starts on the right side going from the Market Square on one Census and then on the left side in the other. It is necessary to find 'anchor residents' - e.g. Brews, Carmodys and Crottys. In the case of the Market Square - 1901 starts at what is now Crottys Pub & B & B - t...

Re: Can anyone help with a Clare placename?
My apologies !! - I should have said 'DED - District Electoral Division - of Kilfiddane - this includes Killofin - which looks to be a small area - just a peninsula with the River Shannon on one side and Clonderlaw Bay on the other. Perhaps the Madigan family are just a stone's throw from Labasheeda...

Re: Martin and Mary (nee Cusack) Sexton
Thanks for that, P.J. I also see on Family Search that 'Ellen Sexton died in 1906' - Census of 1901 is wrong - shown as Mary -should be Ellen - Her husband was Michael Sexton so their daughter, Mary Sexton married Daniel Fleming in 1890 - their children included Margaret and Robert - so that would b...

Re: Martin and Mary (nee Cusack) Sexton
Thanks, P.J. for info re Mary Sexton born 1870 - Census of 1901 shows 'Mary Sexton - mother to Mrs. Mary Flemming at Chapel St. - It is possible that the Census form is wrong - so we would need a copy of marriage cert. for Daniel Flemming/Fleming to Mary Sexton - to confirm that she is same Mary Sex...
