Re: John Egan (jun) of Kilrush m. 1862 Anne Kelly of Glascloon
When I started this thread almost nine years ago, I suspected that Anne Egan née Kelly was a half-sister of my GGgrandmother Mary Clancy née Galvin, whose widowed mother Mary Galvin née Conors or O'Connor married Thomas Kelly of Glascloon shortly after the death of her first husband in 1837. I subse...

Nine years later, I've finally found some of Patrick Blake's descendants for whom I have put together more information on him on my Facebook profile.

Another interesting example, where the child's "RELATION to Head of Family" is given as "Grand Daughter", while her "RANK, PROFESSION OR OCCUPATION" is given as "Neice"!

The recent death notice of another Clare nun with a Bugler grandmother prompted me to start looking at Bugler connections: https://rip.ie/death-notice/sr.-carmel-patricia-scanlan-nenagh-tipperary/429344 http://www.clare.fm/obituaries/sr-carmel-patricia-scanlan-nenagh-formerly-killaloe/ Google quickl...

Hi Sheila and Kevin The mislabelling of the Tithe Applotment Books was the subject of a blog post from John Grenham a few years ago: https://www.johngrenham.com/blog/2017/03/27/i-just-dont-want-to-pay-that-price-any-more/ I think that John may have done more work since then on sorting out the mess, ...

"First Cousin" = grandchild ?
This is the first time I have come across "First Cousin" on a census return apparently meaning "grandchild": Mary E Casey and Katie Casey were enumerated in 1901 in their grandfather's household in Lack East . They were also apparently double counted in their parents' household in Glenconaun More . ...

Re: McMahon house & castle in Moyarta parish
I was reminded of this thread by a post at https://www.facebook.com/groups/countyclare/permalink/3539216449482787/ by an American claiming "McMahan [sic] ancestry" whose "ancestors built Carrigaholt Castle in County Clare". This got me looking for a published pedigree of the MacMahons of Carrigaholt...

Re: J. W. Johnston, Kilkee-born actor
Great finds, Linda. Have you also been updating the Wikipedia page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._W._Johnston ? The register of baptisms in Kilkee parish, like most baptismal registers, does not indicate in which of the churches in the parish the baptism took place; John Johnston was more likel...
