Re: Grogan and Quinlivan of Kilrush and Limerick
I assume Bartley is a form of Batholemew which seems to be a Glynn name and is the only way I know that there may be a connection with the Kilrush Glynns I will ask my Glynn cousins who probably know some of whom (Niamh ) still live in Knockaderra. Denis (Dinny) Glynn married Josephine Gallery daugh...

Re: Grogan and Quinlivan of Kilrush and Limerick
Thanks for posting that. I see my gt grandfather David Gallery on it. His daughter married a Knockaderra Glynn. Who was Michael Glynn of Ennis. Was he the Knockaderra Glynns or another Glynn family. I believe they are all related although the Knockaderra Glynns say they are not related to the Kilrus...

Re: O'HENNESSY in Ennis & London
Patrick O'Hennessy of Arthurs row may not be related at all. I would be more inclined to try to track down the waterloo Hares who in fact are easily researchable on line, See below this took me ten minutes. I looked at the Waterloo roll call which is scanned in online https://archive.org/stream/wate...

Re: O'HENNESSY in Ennis & London
I had a look a the waterloo roll call and couldnt find him then found quite a lot of previous posts online that indicated that your ancestor ended up a journalist and may not have ever been a soldier or a surgeon. The full text of his obit doesnt actually say he was at Waterloo its a bit ambiguous “...

Re: Non-registration of deaths
Well Lucille your answer makes me realise something else. My grandfather Christopher Gallerys death would not have been registered in Kilrush as he died in a nursing home in Ennis. I knew that as I asked my cousin where he died and additionally the death was misfiled but this could have been another...

Re: Grogan and Quinlivan of Kilrush and Limerick
I tried looking this up to pretty much no avail. In England or Ireland there was not a lot of research on funeral processions. What it did say in one article was that the Catholic church didnt like women at the graveside for the interment but it didnt specify after that

Re: Non-registration of deaths
Lucille
There could be a simpler explanation they may be just misfiled or filed under a different name, we found my grandfather Christopher Gallerys death registration eventually it was simply misfiled (I dont know if you every found it)

Re: Trove Newspapers - a rich source of County Clare materia
Both Trove and the similar service Papers past http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast are fantastic resources. Paddy Waldron kindly pointed this out to me and also that the Freemans Journal in Australia reprinted entire articles from the Irish papers. It has been a great help in my rese...

Re: Patrick Hehir of Doonsallagh
Thats interesting Paddy as my sister lives in Knockliscrane (this seems to be the modern day if not official spelling) and considers she lives in Kilfarboy parish. Her son plays for the parish teams she goes to church there and gets the kids christened school etc there as it is just a mile outside t...

Re: Patrick Hehir of Doonsallagh
I am related to the Hehirs of Ballycorick through a Taaffe of Erinagh and Drumcanin marriage (my gt grandmother was Helena Taaffe). Her sister married a Hehir. I know one of the Taaffes lived in Miltown in the 1800s I think it was my gt grandmother;s uncle or aunt. I will have to dig out the connect...

Re: Denis Shannon, Esq. of Kildimo, Clare who died 23 March
Pete you are right it may well have been Denis of Kildimo. It is D Shannon. As his Kenny nephews in the locallty all signed I thought it was David Shannon. This may be wrong. I think that D. Is used for David. Dan. for Dan. Denis for Denis. I may be wrong. They were big into shortening type in those...

Re: Patrick Madigan, County Clare, Ireland
If you look in the tithe indexes on Clare library website there are Madigans in Kilmurry ibrickane. In Griffiths I see no Madigans in Kilmurry ibrickane but loads in kilrush. I am not convinced for a marriage in America that they had to come from neighbouring parishes. It is probable that they would...

Re: Boston Pilot - Missing Friends - Devitt & McNamara, Milt
thanks I had seen this resource before. My gt gt gt uncle James Kenny was missing and his nephew C.D. Kenny (Cornelius David) of Rochester NY and then Baltimore looked for him. The Pilot was a Catholic newspaper. From family letters sent to me by C.D Kennys grandson I know that they found James Kenn...

Re: Denis Shannon, Esq. of Kildimo, Clare who died 23 March
This is what I know about my gt gt gt gt gt grandfather David Shannon of Kildeemo (Kildimo). Its not a lot. I think he had a son called David who may be the David of Clohanes who died in 1833. Denis may be his son or the son of the other Denis. Shannon, David d. AFT 1799 (he or his son David signed ...

Re: Denis Shannon, Esq. of Kildimo, Clare who died 23 March
Paddy I think your post was uncalled for. I did not complain or comment on your use of the PM. I have shared info in the past with you. I dont really care if you want to PM. your comments on Pierce and Patrick Shannon coming from Scotland are unfounded. They came originally from West Clare to Limeri...
