I see on the Marriage Register for Kilmihil Parish that James Pilkington m. E. Haren in 1887; and John Pilkington m. Margaret Honan in 1867. - A more recent marriage - in 1952 P.J. Pilkington m. Florence McMahon.

Hi Paddy - I see Dunsallagh is in DED of Annagh - in Parish of Kilmurray/Ibricken. I think it translates roughly as - erected by John Hynes in memory of Maigread (Margaret) who died Dec. 1911 aged 61 - l plus 3 x ficid - 3 x 20 - . You would need to see the inscription.

Hello Sue - At a guess I would say that your Corry family came from Killimer Parish - which is only out/down the road from Kilrush. I see two Patrick Corrys on Griffith Vals. of 1855 - go to www.clarelibrary.ie - Genealogy - select Griffith Vals. of 1855. Some more of the name in adjoining parishes....

Yes indeed - there are so many spellings of the name. The nearest family to the area of Knock which I found on 1901 Census was Michael Pierce aged 32 with his wife and family at Chapel St., Kilrush. They are not on the 1911 census at that address.

I am back again !! - I did a bit of 'research' on familysearch.org - I see a Bridget Pearse born to Frederick Pearse and Bridget Murphy in 1875. Frederick Pearse died in 1907/8 (registered in Jan. 1908) - so this could be a connection. The name is also written PIERCE for other children in the family.

Hello - one particular document should be of interest - 'Mason's Parochial Survey of 1814'. I think that Ballyvaughan is in the Parish of Abbey - so look at the Clare Library site - Genealogy - Research Support - Civil Parish Index - Abbey Parish. - or next Parish to the west is Gleninagh.
