Re: Can anyone help with a Clare placename?
If you go to our new maps system (follow the Maps link from the main library website), and if you know the location of Labasheeda, you can determine the townland it's in, and the parish also. This link shows that it's in the townland of Cullenagh http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/maps/gmap/in...

Re: Charles McCarthy & Emilia Gill of Ennistymon/Liscannor
As regards the comment from Tony Cassidy I cannot login to reply. Personally I find this is an incredibly difficult site to login - one of the worst - what is wrong with it? I usually give up when I could have supplied required answers. please note that I have created a new announcement on the forum...

What to do if have lost your login details and cannot log in
If you are a registered member and find that you cannot log in, please don't worry. If you have tried to log in unsuccessfully more than 3 times the system will not allow you any more attempts for a while. This is to defeat automated hacking software which is a persistent threat to all online forums...

Up to recently, you would need to have Adobe's Flash Player installed on your PC to play a Soundcloud 'widget' (and probably an up to date version of Flash Player at that). You can download Flash Player here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. Soundcloud recently introduced a HTML5 widget (as default...

Re: Doora graveyard
We contacted The Clare Roots Society who undertook the survey and transcriptions of Old Doora Graveyard and received this reply: ‘We read all the legible stones in Old Doora (Bunnow) Graveyard. I think that we managed to get a name at least on all of them so doubtful if we missed Howard. They may me...

Re: Dispensary and Registration Districts
Paddy, we've added Registration Districts to Clare Places and Placenames on the website. See http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/places.htm The Registration Districts table that follows the link from the Places page is quite large as it combines all four tables in the Townlands pages. Re...

Re: Dispensary and Registration Districts
Paddy, Re "Those of us researching in Clare are lucky to have the Clare County Library's Townland Index at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclar ... wnland.htm which shows the Registration District to which each townland belongs. (It would be even nicer if we could filter than index by Registratio...

Re: A comprehensive listing of Clare emigrants - new project
As we have not received a reply to the email and letter we sent to the Ellis Island Foundation in early December of 2010, we have decided to go ahead with the emigration list transcription. To that end we have started a new topic on the forum, called the Clare Past Forum Emigration List Project (189...
