Re: Grogan and Quinlivan of Kilrush and Limerick

Mary appears to be Daniel's second wife. These look like the birth of the 15 month old infant on the passenger list: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/results?count=75&query=%2Bfather_givenname%3Adaniel~%20%2Bfather_surname%3Aquinlivan~%20%2Bmother_givenname%3Amary~%20%2Bmother_surname%3Adw...

I am still here, Geoff, but still more interested in Binford Throne's wife and her siblings than in Binford himself!

I am glad that my post has helped you.

Best wishes

Paddy.

Re: niece/nephew = grandchild ?

In Cloughaunbeg East in 1901, Michael and Honor Whyte's household included his "Niece" Molly Tubridy (11): http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Clare/Creegh/Cloughaunbeg_East/1078191/ By 1911, Honora Whyte had been widowed. Her household now included "Grand Daughter" Mary Tubridy (23): h...

Re: Grogan and Quinlivan of Kilrush and Limerick

Thanks, Jimbo. I got this from the Office Manager, Calvary and St. Mary's Cemeteries: Edward Quinlivan was buried on February 6, 1941, at age 78, in Section 78 Block 15 Lot 12 Grave 2. Buried next to him is Matilda E Quinlivan, who was buried on October 6, 1954, at age 80. Eliza Quinlivan was buried...

Re: Grogan and Quinlivan of Kilrush and Limerick

Hi Jimbo You found several bits and pieces that I had missed! In particular, I had not found the 1910 census with the 1886 migration year. rootsireland.ie currently has no birth matching ed quinlivan from 1851 to 1863 inclusive. The younger Edward Quinlivan of St. Paul may have been born in a parish...

Re: niece/nephew = grandchild ?

Another example: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Clare/Querrin/Querrin/365367/ Thomas Mahony (9) appears to have been Mary Clancy (75)'s grandson and not her nephew as described. His mother and his other four siblings are at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Clare/Ein...

Re: Grogan and Quinlivan of Kilrush and Limerick

Back to the original topic of this thread ... I finally made it to the National Archives this week and saw the two administration packets for Mary Grogan née Quinlivan. All of Mary's children predeceased her, including Edward and Mary, whom I had not previously accounted for. Her surviving next of k...

Rinnagonnaght in Doonbeg townland

The people of the parish of Killard seems to have an unusual propensity for using local placenames which are not official townland names. One of these appears in the townland of Doonbeg as Rayoganagh on the Historic 6" OSi maps and as Rinnagonnaght on the Historic 25" OSi maps; see http://maps.osi.i...

Re: niece/nephew = grandchild ?

I don't seem to have mentioned this one before: In 1911, Bridget and Johanna Burns, daughters of Richard Burns and Johanna O'Shea, are double-counted, as daughters with their parents in Ballyartney at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Clare/Coolmeen/Ballyartney/362175/ and as niece an...

Interesting that Joyce considered Leopold to be the Christian name of the Jew Bloom! He wouldn't get away with that slip in today's politically correct world.

Re: niece/nephew = grandchild ?

Here's a surprising example from a county Limerick family of mixed religion and with no knowledge of the Irish language. Being of Palatine descent, they probably knew more German than Irish. In 1901 at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Adare_South/Rower_Beg/1487220/ Elizabeth...

There is a decided lack of women in this photograph of the funeral cortege of Mrs. Frost of Sixmilebridge who died on 8 Oct 1888.
