Re: Workhouse Infirmaries
Here are a couple of newspaper reports of interest to this discussion. The first describes some early impetus to the employment of the Sisters of Mercy in workhouse hospitals. The second report gives some insight into the state of the Kildysart Workhouse in 1905. WORKHOUSE HOSPITALS Our readers are ...

Re: Workhouse Infirmaries
Hi Sheila & Kerry With reference to an infirmary in the Kildysart Workhouse: my g grandfather Patrick Phillips of Caherea died at this workhouse in 1908. There is no reason to suppose that he was in any way destitute. He was a farmer on 35 acres, his wife was still alive, and one son and his wife we...

Re: Workhouse Infirmaries
Sheila the Kildysart Workhouse lies in the townland of Crovraghan, residents of houses 13.2 and 13.3 in the 1901 census. If you put just Crovraghan in the townland box, the workhouse inmates start at page 8 of the search results. In the 1911 census they start at the first page - residents of houses ...

Re: 1851 census - Clare
Hi Sheila I went back and followed the instructions and found that they still work fine. When you get to the Munster cover page, then just above the page on the right you should see: Page 1 of 379 [___] Go to Page Put 29 in the empty box and click on Go to Page. That should take you to page 29 and K...

Re: O'Loughlin Kilmihil/Donogan
Miriam I also tried exploring the Queensland records but was unable to make any connections. I did notice the following: Death registration: Catherine May Dunbar Death date: 30/12/1933 Mother's name: Mary Ann Glynn Father/parent's name: Michael O'Loughlin Registration details: 1934/C/944 This of cou...

Re: O'Loughlin Kilmihil/Donogan
Hi Miriam & Sheila Several posts ago Sheila asked Have you found any records for Bridget O’Loughlin, who was born to Michael O'Loughlin and Mary Keating in Doonogan in 1856? Well I just stumbled across this in Trove: PERSONAL. O'LOUGHLIN. — Wanted information of Bridget O'Loughlin, left Kilmailey, n...

Hi Miriam and Sheila From the Mount Saint Lawrence Burial Register: Mary O'Loughlin Age at Death: 81 years Burial Date: January 20 1911 Note that her date of death from the death certificate is also 20 Jan 1911. Miriam, I presume that the obit that you refer to is that from the Limerick Leader of 27...

Re: Teermaclane Rd. ?
Hi Paula This confusion is due to an indexing error by the National Archives (or rather their transcriber). If you go to the Browse page of the Tithe Applotments http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/pagestab/ Select County Clare, then Drumcliff Parish. Scroll down to the bottom and select...

Re: James Sheedy & Maria Hehir, Ennis, married 1871
Hi Libby Not sure how much help this may be, but in the Ennis Baptism register at https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634714#page/133/mode/1up there is a baptism of Patrick Hehir, father Michael, Mother Catherine Sheedy, sponsors Pat Malone and Anne Molony. Residence could be Lysaght's Lane. D...
