Re: Thanks too to Anthony Edwards, retiring today

I was fortunate enough to be able to thank Anthony personally two weeks ago, but sadly was not able to say the same to my cousin Maureen. The library will have a challenge finding someone to fill both of their shoes. They truly are dedicated to the preservation of the rich ancestry of the region. We...

Re: Kilmaley baptism records

It appears the Crowe family farm as identified in the 1855 Griffith's Valuation abutted the townland of Magouna in Kilmaley Parish, so the Crowe family was basically just outside the parish boundary. Their neighbors the Fitzpatrick's and Barry's also used Kilmaley Parish.

Re: Kilmaley baptism records

Houben, I have noticed many Kilmaley baptisms from the same geographic area of Drumcliff parish. Kilmaley Parish has three chapels, and the chapel in Inch may have been closer to many Drumcliff parish families. There are also other baptisms for that same family in Kilmaley Mary on March 23, 1835, Jo...

Re: Kilmaley baptisms 1832-1843, Bridget Fraly

For what it's worth, I recently noticed a few transcriptions in a parish where Campbell and Cammel were interchanged. I can't remember the parish though.

Re: Thomas Frawley, Mary Markham, Ennis, Kilmaley, Clare

The Frawley's you are looking for are from the townland of Kyleatunna in the parish of Kilmaley. The baptism of Thomas Frawley occurred on April 13, 1862. The sponsors were Martin Reidy of Fortville and Mary Kenna of Kyleatunna

Re: Kilmaley baptisms 1832-1843, Bridget Fraly

Murf,

I am currently working on 1863 Kilmaley Baptisms and found Pat Cammel as a sponsor on March 17, for the baptism of Mary Corrie, the daughter of John Corrie and Anne Boland of Bealcragga.

Kerry, could you share the newspaper article for those of us suspecting our Hehir ancestors may have gone to Australia?

Re: Patrick Hehir of Doonsallagh

Murf,
To support your thought, Owen Hehir and his wife Mary Cahill had four children baptized in Miltown Malbay Parish between 1839 and 1844, and a fifth child baptized in K-I Parish in 1849.

Re: Kilmaley baptisms 1832-1843, Bridget Fraly

Murf, Well I went ahead and looked at the next few years and found in Feb. of 1847: Pat of Michael Fraly and Sarah Cammel. Sponsors are Patrick Cammel and Mary McGuire. It is clearly written as Cammel in both instances. If you would like to e-mail me, I will send you the screen shots of both entries...

In the 1824 Tithe Applotments, James, Jno and Daniel Crowe all reside in Drumline, in Kilmaley Parish. The only other residents of Drumline are John Donohoe and Michael and John Frawley. http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/tithe_applot/kilmaley_tab.htm The area in Kilmaley parish iden...
