Re: A comprehensive listing of Clare emigrants - new project?
Any further thoughts about the copyright implications of this proposed project? I live in the US and know a little bit about US copyright issues as a lawyer (although intellectual property is not my practice area.) Very briefly, in the US facts cannot be copyrighted, although commentary about facts ...

Re: A comprehensive listing of Clare emigrants
No problem on the parishes, I can pick another one, perhaps on the other side of Feakle. Has anyone taken Inchicronan?

Re: A comprehensive listing of Clare emigrants
To Everyone: I apologize for this off-topic posting in response to a question in the thread. I'm new here so please indulge me this one time. Tom: I recently learned about two ancestors from Feakle: great great grandfather Henry Barrett (ab. 1826) and his father John Barrett, a labourer. Henry Barre...

Clare-England Emigration
I am interested in learning about emigration patterns from Clare to England in the mid-19th century and related record keeping (or lack thereof). Were any records kept of emigration within the UK, such as Clare to London, which are similar to passenger lists or naturalization records, to the US or A...

Re: A comprehensive listing of Clare emigrants
Thanks for your instructive posting, Tom If you have substantially covered Feakle, then I'm willing to work on another parish. Any suggestions which one?

Re: A comprehensive listing of Clare emigrants
Paddy:
I'd prefer Feakle parish, if possible, since that is where my ancestor was born, but I'm flexible. Thanks for asking about my preference.

Re: Clare images: the Sean Sexton collection
Riveting. I couldn't stop myself from cruising though at all 800 or so photos on Corbis's website, with occasional detours to Google historic figures and events. By the end of the evening I arrived at a place of better understanding. Let's hope Sean Sexton keeps going with this collection.

Interpreting Griffith's Valuation
How do you match information given for a specific person with a plot of land on Griffith's Valuation map? For example, the information for Henry Barrett of County Clare, Parish Feakle states: Publication Details Position on Page 9 Printing Date 1855 Act 15&16 Sheet Number 19,27 Map Reference 7 When ...

Re: BARRETT-Patrick BALLYVAUGHAN PARISH DRUMCREEHY
My ancestor Henry Barrett was born in Feakle Parish about 1830 according to his military records. This parish is some distance from Ballyvaughan, and there are numerous Barretts listed on Griffiths Valuation in 1855, but I thought I'd mention it. I'm trying to find Henry Barrett's birth record in Fe...
