Update on some Jones of east Clare. Had a very successful trip to County Clare. Met many helpful and friendly people. But did connect some dots and even put a Clare women in touch with cousin "Down Under". Found a cousin of my own. LouG

Most interesting series of posting. I too am flying into Shannon later in Sept. and am hoping to find some relatives. However, "my" Jones of either Feakle or Scraiff are a hard lot to sort out. Jim, thank you for your detailed answer. We believe that our Jones was a Feakle man but upon my gr grandfather death my grandfather wrote to both Feakel where apparently the priest (Father Duncan) did not find my gr grandfathers records but the records were found in Scariff by a Father Scanlan). Sorry can't help with the science but I can report the same cause of death is noted in my Beattie family in Charleston, SC, USA around 1870. I have often wonder about this cause of death myself. LouG
