Re: Where is Cahirneen?

Sharon,

Thank you for your reply.

It is Thomas Considine's wife, Mary O'Loughlin, that I'm trying to trace. I have DNA evidence that she is related to my great-grandfather, John Lynch (b probably Clare, 1808).

Re: Where is Cahirneen?

Sheila,

Thank you. Your reply seems spot on. I too have failed to find civil registration for the marriage and the eldest three children, Nora, Kate and Mary.

Where is Cahirneen?

I am trying to find the birthplace, Cahirneen, of John Considine, son of Thomas and Mary O'Loughlin, born 11 June 1888 <https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1888/02502/1927785.pdf>. Re: Where is Islands, Inagh?

Sheila, Thank you for your reply, which crossed with my previous post. I think your explanation is better than mine. You have all three children baptised in the correct parish, with only the birth certificate abode of "Islands, Inagh" unexplained. I have now found a death of Mary O'Neill (nee McCorm...

Re: Where is Islands, Inagh?

Sharon, Thank you for your reply. I think it has answered my question. I think the mother's name is indeed McCormack, because a descendant of her is a DNA match, and my great-grandmother is Susan McCormack b February 1819 in this area (I don't know exactly where). I had found Michael's sister Margar...

Where is Islands, Inagh?

I am trying to interpret the civil registration entry for the birth of Michael O'neal b 20 Mar 1865 (#02319698, Ennistymon Union). The place of birth, which I think is Islands Inagh, appears three times in the entry. I can't find a townland, or anywhere else, in Inagh, called Islands, or beginning I...

Kilrush - Irish Civil registration indexes

I have searched for and failed to find this mentioned before. If you search the Irish Civil registration indexes using familysearch, if the event was in Kilrush Registration District, and you specify in the place field Ireland -> Clare, then you will find nothing. If you specify just Ireland or Irel...

John Joseph Lynch Excise Officer Kilrush & Ennis early 1880s

Baptism: 1843-06-03, O'Callaghan Mills, Clare. [evidence on Clare library site] Married Mildred. Children: Catherine, Augustine. Emigrated to USA ...

Re: '48 Movement Lynch family, Belvoir Model Agricultural School

While I have been unaware of an agricultural school in Kilkenny, I have seen repeated references to the one in Belvoir, Clare. ... There you can see what is online by using the key phrase "agricultural school" +belvoir +wilson. Many thanks. By using this hint, I have found a letter from John Lynch ...

'48 Movement Lynch family, Belvoir Model Agricultural School

My great-grandfather was John Lynch, a teacher at the Model Agricultural School in Belvoir Clare. One of his granddaughters wrote, probably, in 1956: The Lynch family hailed from County Clare, and his [the writer's brother] Grandfather, John Lynch, was born in Ennis. For taking some part in the '48 ...
