Re: Looking for descendants of Cullinans of Dangananella West

It's taken almost ten years, but I think that I may have identified the birth record of the Elizabeth O'Connor who married Patrick Joseph Cullinan on 28 Apr 1909.

Re: Thomas J. Madigan, Sergeant Major U.S. Army, born in Kilrush

I found a few more clues, mainly at ancestry.com: The application for our Thomas's headstone, made on 11 May 1942, almost 21 years after his death, by John Madigan, of 1062 Fillmore St., Denver, Colorado: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-994Q-YBPX?i=1307&cc=1916249&personaUrl=%2Fark%...

Re: Thomas J. Madigan, Sergeant Major U.S. Army, born in Kilrush

Some user-donated family trees at ancestry.com have confused the Thomas Madigan who died in Denver in 1921 with the son of John Madigan and Mary McDonnell who died in 1930 in the townland of Einagh in Killard parish, but adjoining Kilrush parish: !CENSUS: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/...

Re: Thomas J. Madigan, Sergeant Major U.S. Army, born in Kilrush

Great research, all. I don't know what happened Denis Keane's widow, Bridget Madigan, except that she appears to have been alive when he died in 1887, described as married, rather than widowed. However, she does not appear to be the Bridget Keane in these census returns: !CENSUS: http://www.census.n...

Re: Information is wanted of Thomas McNamara, of Glandree,

Jimbo, Griffith's Valuation for the Barony of Pubblebrien, including the parish of Mungret, is dated 9 Nov 1850. I was able to establish this using the trick outlined by John Grenham at https://www.johngrenham.com/blog/2017/02/06/how-to-date-griffiths-valuation-precisely/ Sharon, thank you so much f...

Re: Parish Records - Transcribers Register

There appear to be a couple of typos on the Sixmilebridge page at https://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/don_tran/bmd/sixmilebridge_parish_baptism_records.htm The links to the middle sections of the spreadsheets say "1840-1854" in two places but should say "1840-1864". The names of the ...

Sharon You do not appear to have mentioned Fr. Ignatius Murphy's monumental three-volume History of the Diocese of Killaloe, which I think provides the best background for any study of a 19th century priest of the diocese. Other Clare priests that come to mind for their public campaigning and pastor...

Hi Sheila It was not you but the National Library who mislabelled the 1878-80 Kilballyowen microfilm! I have a link from https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/visiting/about-moyarta to Murray's 2013 version of the Carrigaholt baptisms at http://www.facebook.com/groups/countyclare/462797053791424/ which a...

Sheila You have really gone beyond the call of duty in repeating Murray Ginnane's efforts and giving us another version of the Carrigaholt registers. Many thanks. One small point - the microfilm containing baptisms from 19 Feb 1878 to 29 Mar 1881 and marriages from 5 Mar 1878 to 30 Apr 1881 at http:...

Over nine years on, I stumbled across the marriages of Maurice Deenihan's parents, Thomas Denihan (son of another Maurice) and Bridget Shea, who were married first in the established church in Rathronan, County Limerick, on 28 Aug 1853 (see civil record ) and again in the Catholic church in Athea pa...

Another variant on the same theme: John Griffin was enumerated with his maternal grandparents as "Niece" in 1901 but "Nephew" in 1911. http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Clare/Cahermurphy/Cahermurphy/1080464/ http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Clare/Cahermurphy/Cahermurph...

Re: Did John Clancy from Clare marry his brother's widow (1924)?

Almost 11 years on, Jim Herlihy has drawn my attention to this Clancy family again with a post in a Facebook group called "Royal Irish Constabulary1816-1922 -A forgotten Irish Police Force".

John Clancy's daughter-in-law has appeared in an online phone book since I last looked for her.
