Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Thank you Lyn. I hadn’t reread the posts and didn’t think of that. I will return to their library as soon as I get an opportunity and keep you posted on results. I should be able to find time before Christmas.
I must look into the ancestry site and see what’s there.

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Thanks Lyn. My hopes for free DNA are in doubt. When I took the test I was told it was paid for by the Page project. However I was in contact with familytreeDNA and they say that I must first contact the Page Project and they must agree to pay for it first. I have emailed them but have got no reply....

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Hello Lyn, I haven’t been active in family research for the past few months. But today I called to the Church of Ireland library in Dublin ,which you referred to in a much earlier post. However the records they have of Mountshannon(or Inishcaltra as it’s called in their records) is limited to marria...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Hello Lyn, Yes that surname Acher is very unusual. There is no record of that name in the tithes applotments,Griffiths Valuation or Census 1901. However when I searched Family Search ,the Mormon site, there are a few records of the name in Co Galway in the mid 1800’s-mainly involving court cases!! A...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Hello Lyn, I can understand your excitement at finding your great great great grandfather Peter Wall. It took great detective work to figure it out. Those parish records really contain a lot of hidden information behind the surface of what can look like scribbles. As you’ve proven it’s the witnesses...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Hello Lyn, You are really getting full value from the Clonrush records.Making connections can be difficult especially with names being repeated so much. I have some memory of the name Caesar in the page family-it really stands out.But I don’t remember where I heard it before. The marriage of Martha ...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Thank you Sharon for that info which adds to my family tree. I had the names of Bedia Boland and Michael Page but I didn't know her name was Bridgit and that she came from Claremount. Michael was my great grandfather's first cousin. That testimony you included is very interesting and gives a fascina...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Lyn, Well done on finding Eliza Page’s immigration record. It’s a great feeling when you make a breakthrough like that. I looked up that ship and the girls who accompanied Eliza had local surnames as you say. Minogue is a common enough name in Clare and in the Clonrush /Mountshannon area in particul...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Lyn, You may have hit on an interesting correlation between the Clonrush and Galway Pages. As you know Gurteeny is a neighbouring townland to Oghilly. The Page /Egan connection seems strong.I think I can identify some of the names on your recent post. The David Page who married Jane Burke was an Oghi...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

Lyn, The records in the Clonrush parish register are a bit too recent for the Clare Pages as many seem to have left/moved by 1840’s -1850’s.It is strange that there are no Page names in Griffiths Valuation in the Clonrush /Mountshannon area in the 1850’s. Of course this register didn’t include those...

Re: Eliza Page:Inisparran, Clare, to Warrnambool, Victoria,

LYN, Well done with all those discoveries on the Clonrush site –I missed many of those. It’s a tedious task especially when sections were written in latin! My source for Edmund Page who was the oldest name we have in the Oghilly family tree is not accessible at the moment. He lives in Scotland and h...
