Re: Culloo/Cullow and McDermotts Clare, Derby (UK) then Chic
I am attaching this to my initial thread, as I have finally secured the elusive paper trail to my family's origins in County Clare and I wanted to share it where it all began for me, right here 6 years ago. I need to thank a stranger who may not know my story, but she provided the key, the RC Baptis...

Re: Faha/Corbehagh
Thank you all for your responses! I am truly grateful. The reason I wanted to know specifically about the Faha/Corbehagh Culloo's is that the names from Culloo's in that place from the 1827 Index to Tithe Applotment Books match our family's forenames, as well as some of the same sponsor names from c...

Re: Faha/Corbehagh
Wow. Thank you? This "one" had no way of knowing that. Sorry for bothering you with my "silly" question.

Re: Faha/Corbehagh
The cross reference didn't mislead me, it reports that Corbehagh is listed as such in both the 1901 and 1911 Census, I just couldn't find it. Perhaps because the DED changed. Here is the link to the cross reference chart, however. I was unable to find Corbehagh in the Census list on THIS site. I tho...

Faha/Corbehagh
My sister and I have narrowed down our Culloo's/Cullow's to those in the Faha/Lower Corbehagh region. In the 1820s-1840s Index to Tithe Applotment Books - Parish Index we find some Culloo's whose names match those of our immigrant ancestors and we find them sharing land with persons who have names t...

Hello, I am still looking for any information on McDermotts and/or Collough's (Cullow, Culloo, etc) . Recently, my research led me to reconnect with a branch of the family we had not seen in decades. It was very exciting. I was able to reunite my aging mother with one of her cousins. During this vis...

McNamera, O'Halloran, Connelly, Maloney, Culloo, McDermott
Hello, This post is regarding information about people who left Ireland around 1850 and could neither read nor write. I wanted to update my request for information on the McDermott's and Collue's (Cullough, Culloo, Cullow etc...) with some of the names we see along with our McDermott's and Collue's ...

Re: Culloo/Cullow and McDermotts Clare, Derby (UK) then Chic
This IS very exciting! It is my sister, Patty, who has done all of the legwork. And I do mean LEGwork. She has been researching the old fashioned way! I am the one who uses technology to further our efforts. She has been at this since the 1980's! We were quite sure we may never find our ancestors! I...

Sharon, Thank your for your reply! On the contrary, I am open to help from anyone - no matter where they are. I just started here because I have corresponded some with a local research specialist and he recommended I post here. Interesting that you mention your family left LaSalle for Chicago, mine ...

Culloo/Cullow and McDermotts Clare, Derby (UK) then Chicago
Hello, I am an Irish American living in Chicago, Illinois. My great-great grandfather, Michael McDermott, left Ireland due to the famine we believe in the late 1840s or early 1850s. He went to Derby, England. This much I know as we have the marriage record for he and his wife, Margaret Collue (spell...
